This policy explains what personal data PrepGenie collects, why, how we look after it, and the rights you have over it.

Who we are
PrepGenie ("we", "us", "our") provides an online LNAT practice simulator. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. If you have any questions about privacy or your data, contact us at info@prepgenie.uk.
The data we collect
- Account details such as your name and email address when you create an account.
- Order information when you buy a bundle. Payments are processed by our payment provider (Stripe); we do not see or store your full card details.
- Usage data generated as you use the simulator, such as your practice attempts, answers, scores, and the analytics we produce from them.
- Technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and device information, and information collected through cookies.
- Messages you send us, for example by email.
How we use your data
- To provide the service, give you access to your papers, and record your progress and analytics.
- To process your order and send you account and service emails, such as your login link and important notices.
- To provide support and respond to your messages.
- To maintain, secure, and improve the service.
- To send you marketing about PrepGenie where you have agreed to receive it. You can opt out at any time.
- To meet our legal obligations.
Our legal bases
We rely on the following legal bases under UK data protection law: performance of our contract with you (to provide the service you have paid for); our legitimate interests (to run, secure, and improve PrepGenie); your consent (for optional marketing and non-essential cookies); and compliance with legal obligations.
Cookies and analytics
We use essential cookies that are needed for the site and the simulator to work, and analytics cookies that help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. Analytics may be provided by third parties such as Google Analytics. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run PrepGenie, and only as needed. These include our payment provider (Stripe), our hosting provider, our email provider, and our analytics provider. These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate agreements. We may also disclose data where required by law.
International transfers
Some of our providers may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we take steps to ensure your data is protected by appropriate safeguards as required by UK data protection law.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and usage data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards where we need to for legal, accounting, or security reasons. Access to purchased papers lasts for 12 months from the date of purchase.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@prepgenie.uk.
If you are not happy with how we handle your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Please check back for the latest version.
